Overview

The Asian Games are the biggest sports event in Asia, held once every four years. They are organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), bringing together athletes from across Asia to compete in a diverse range of sports.

The event was born from a desire to heal the divisions among Asian nations torn apart by war and to foster lasting peace through sports. The first Asian Games were held in New Delhi, India in 1951 shortly after the end of World War II, with just 11 countries participating.  Since then, the Asian Games have grown into a major international event, promoting peace by building friendships and celebrating diversity.
